When I say I will never retire people just look at me and laugh.
Why would you want to work forever, they ask? Well, I guess because I don't see work as a chore or something I dread. I see work as my "life's work" and not work for the sake of making a paycheck.
I call it SoulFire.
It is doing something that I love, with people I love, for people I love.
Of course not every day is glorious and easy. And I certainly am not wearing rose colored glasses. The fact is, it's about perpective. Each day is perfect in it's own right...the exact things that need to happen in order to fulfill the bigger vision.
I learn something new every day.
Some days I learn it the hard way and other days it is fun learning. Either way, I learn.
I don't know if I will be doing what I am doing now for the rest of my life (highly doubt it), but it will be some evolution of it for sure. Everything I have done from my youth to today has been a series of evolutions...what else could they be?
If you are wondering what it might look like to continue "working" well into your 90's and beyond, take a look at this video featuring Tao Porchon-Lynch, a 93 year old yoga teacher. Tao was named by Guinness World Records as the oldest yoga teacher.
She clearly isn't "working" and yet she is.
What will you be doing when you are 63, 73, 83, 93, or even 103?
Will you be doing nothing (definition of retired) or will you be living your SoulFire?
Don't answer that until you have had a chance to watch Tao Porchon-Lynch in action.
You go, Girl!!!
