Definition of Real Estate Insanity

Posted by: Nikki Buckelew

Unlike many of my posts, this one is pretty short, sweet, and straight to the point.

We have seen some significant changes in the lives of agents we coach and train at the Seniors Real Estate Institute. And while I would love to take credit for all to cool things happening for them in their personal and professional lives, I must say this about these particular individuals ... THEY ALL CHOSE TO BE DIFFERENT!

You have undoubtedly heard the quote attributed to Albert Einstein that going something like this:

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again

and expecting different results."

Well, my friends, Einstein was no idiot.

The world or real estate is often described by real estate agents as a roller coaster ride when it comes to income with one month being a big income month and the next ... zip, zero, nada.

My question is usually, "So what are you currently doing differently to change that cycle?"

Are you changing your vocabulary? Your self talk? Your daily schedule? Your activities? Your friends? Your psyche? What?

Here's the truth -- straight up -- to get different results you MUST not only do things differently, but you MUST also BE different. Behaviors only revert back to the same ol' same ol' when you let your guard down UNLESS you address the root causes of those behaviors.

Most of us give lip service to this issue of change or we do it for only a couple of days and then we slide back into our old comfy habits.

Are your behaviors a function of your conscious or unconscious mind?

Hmmmm. Haven't really considered that have you?

I could go into a million and one different directions here and try to give you tips, advice, and coaching on what to do to get better results than you are currently getting, but I am not going to do it. Nope, not today.

CHOOSE TO BE DIFFERENT.

That's it. Just choose.

It isn't until you commit to being a different person than the one you are currently portraying that you will be able to muster the courage to take action toward that end (my contention is that you are probably not showing up as your authentic self and that is why you aren't behaving in alignment with your zone of genius and that is why you aren't getting better results, but again, I said I was going to make this short).

1. Make a choice to BE different
2. Take action on that choice by DOING something different
3. Surround yourself with a support system that is actually Supportive

Have some courage.

Take some risks.

Be willing to fall flat on your face.

Failure is only feedback.

Be you - the real you.

Think for yourself.

Align your behaviors with your values.

Find friends that are honest with you.

Stop following the crowd.

Different is good.

Be the change.

By the way... I am going to be going DEEP into this topic in one of our mastery conversations at this year's upcoming Legacy Conference (October 7 & 8 in Dallas).

If this post resonated with you check it out. The online descriptions just can't do the massively insightful and graduate level conference content justice, but you will get the gist. If you need more info let us know by calling (512-842-6011) or emailing (info@seniorsrealestateinstitute.com).

Cheers to having the courage to BE DIFFERENT!

So well said, Nikki. It is sad for those agents whose only motivation is money.
